Masahiro NISHIYAMA

Born in 1948 in Yamaguchi. He joined Tsuchimoto Noriaki’s crew in Minamata as an assistant director in 1977. He directed his first film, “Michiko and Osa,” in 1982. This was followed by “A Day at a Fun School” (1985), “Yuntanza Okinawa” (1987), “Wind from Shigaraki” (1990), and “Special Delivery from the Water” (1993). His films have dealt with a broad range of themes, including education, social welfare, the environment, and US military bases in Japan. He has also been active in screening his films with citizens groups throughout Japan.
