Born in Gifu Prefecture in 1928. Documentary filmmaker.
After working at Iwanami Productions, he made his debut in 1963 with An Engineer’s Assistant. He went on to release works such as *Document: On the Street* and *Prehistory of the Partisans*. From the 1970s onward, he created a series of 17 films on Minamata. He also directed three films related to Afghanistan, including *Afghan Spring*.
He passed away on June 24, 2008.
