Tomoki IMAI

Born in 1979 in Gifu Prefecture. Graduated from the Japan Academy of Moving Images (currently the Japan Institute of the Moving Image).
 In 2004, he joined Center for ethnological visual documentation, studying under its director, Tadayoshi Himeda. He left the institute in 2010. In 2014, he released his first theatrically distributed work, the feature-length documentary BIRD TIME. In 2015, he established the company Studio Garret Inc.Recent works include the director’s film Tashima Seizou Kyodaitosawashiniegaku (Draft)(2025) and the co-directed film Listen to the Forest (2025).
