Born in Shizuoka in 1953. He worked as an assistant director to Higashi Yoichi on numerous films, from “Third” (1978) through “River With No Bridge” (1992). He has been active on a broad variety of feature films and television dramas, working as an assistant director to Shinoda Masahiro, Inoue Akira, Murakami Toru, and others. The documentary “Arakawa” was his directorial debut.
